Summary: No one is like Daemon Black.
When he set out to prove his feelings for me, he wasn't fooling around. Doubting him isn't something I’ll do again, and now that we've made it through the rough patches, well... There’s a lot of spontaneous combustion going on.But even he can’t protect his family from the danger of trying to free those they love. After everything, I’m no longer the same Katy. I’m different... And I’m not sure what that will mean in the end. When each step we take in discovering the truth puts us in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing hybrids, the more I realize there is no end to what I’m capable of. The death of someone close still lingers, help comes from the most unlikely source, and friends will become the deadliest of enemies, but we won’t turn back. Even if the outcome will shatter our worlds forever.
Together we’re stronger... and they know it.

First of all, WELCOME to my blog, and what an awesome way to start it with such an amazing book!

I have been such a sucker for this series ever since I first read Obsidian back in August. How could I have not heard of this series before, right? I don't know, maybe the fact that I live in the long forgotten land of New Zealand and no bookshops here sell this book (and the fact that I have a one year old little boy keeping me from searching for new books to read on Goodreads all day). So after ordering this online, and finishing it in just under 2 days, I swear I would have done anything to read the next one, lucky me, I only had a couple of weeks to wait for Onyx! Which was even more incredible if it was even possible. I read this one in 1 day, staying up super late even thought I had work at 4 am the next day (was so worth it by the way).

The wait was long........ Sooooo long...... But here we are and Oh My God, Opal got released early, yes you heard right! EARLY!
I, of course, pre-ordered my copy online (since no one sells this piece of art of a book in this country) but it usually takes a few weeks for it to get here. So when Jennifer posted on her Facebook, the book was out early, well I just had to go and get me the Kindle Edition (even thought, I loathe reading on my Ipad but come on, we're talking about OPAL here!).

Opal starts of where Onyx ended, Dawson is back but he's definitely not the same person he used to be, he's quiet, angry and unstable. All he wants is to get Beth back and he's prepared to do whatever it takes.
Dee and Daemon have to follow his every move to keep him from getting caught by the DOD.
Katy and Daemon are finally together, call me crazy but I kind of missed them not being a couple, don't get me wrong, I'm glad for them and all but I just LOVE the whole forbidden romance, and the love/hate relationship they had going on. I missed Daemon being his jerk self and Katy wanting to hit him  one minute but couldn't resist him the next. But this new Daemon isn't bad at all, he's still a jerk most of the time but Katy got used to it I guess, and most of all, he's (wait for it..........) romantic? Yes ROMANTIC! *melt*... Romantic Daemon.... Me dreaming......... drool...
Anyway... Dee's grieving Adam, and I felt so awful for her, I feel her pain and Katy does too. Katy feels like everything is her fault and she tries to make amends by helping Dawson getting Beth back and we even get glimpses of his old self back thanks to her.
Blake is back. I know, right!?! How dare he? The big question here is has he changed? Or is he still a major douche? I'll let you find that out for yourselves because it's a major spoiler!

Honestly, I had waited so long for this book and was absolutely dying to read it but I was kind of disappointed, I did love it but there was something missing, maybe Daemon's bad ass attitude or some impossible love scenario? I was ready to give this book 4 stars and be done with it kind of mad, it wasn't as epic as I expected it to be, until those damn last pages. J.L. Armentrout, you literally broke my heart.
There was so much emotion in that last scene, it brought tears to my eyes. I'm not going to spoil it for you all and tell you what happens, even if you beg for it, you absolutely HAVE to read it! Once, twice or even three times because I did, I couldn't believe what I'd just read, 5 minutes later, I just read it again.
That was the thing I was looking for during this whole book, this J.L. Armentrout's spark that makes it so much more special, well it was right there, waiting for me at the end.

Looking back on it now, I do understand the build up to this one moment that just changes everything. Jennifer is a pure genius and ANY books she writes is a master piece, she takes reading books to a whole a new level. Even if all I will be thinking about until July is what's going to happen next?! I will just have to content myself with the little teasers she posts along the way.
Ways to cope till July, you ask me? Well Jennifer just posted on her facebook that she will be writing the last few pages from Daemon's POV soon. Say what??? I cannot wait to get my hands on that!
Of course Apollyon will be coming out in April, which is still a long way but come on, not as long as July. Anyways all I will be asking for Christmas this year is a ARC of Origin pretty please!!!
So would I Alicia recommend this book to anyone? ARE YOU CRAZY, go and buy it right NOW! Ditch you computer/tablet/laptop/phone and go (or you know, just buy it online...). Or if you haven't read this series yet, start with Obsidian!

It was hard finding a quote without giving too much away since my favorite part was a major spoiler scene but I think I found the perfect one:

Daemon’s eyes met mine and the look in them, the horror in his extraordinary green eyes cracked my heart into a million useless pieces. He understood—oh, God, he understood what was happening.

Dying to read it yet?

As to how many stars this book deserves, like I mentioned before, it entirely deserves its 5 stars! I loved it and loved it and loved it. I would read it over and over again! :)
